5 GOOD REASONS (Bergey - Dennis) You’ve got the chuckles I’ve got the knuckles One day your luck will run out on you You’ve got the gumption And the assumption That I am something you can out do I’ve got 5 good reasons you should leave her alone 5 good reasons holding onto this phone You are so brazen To my fists raising Soon you’ll be gazing up from the floor You’re filled with laughter You’ll meet the rafter And the hereafter with what’s in store I’ve got 5 good reasons you should get out of here 5 good reasons holding onto this beer You are so stupid You think you’re cupid You’re just a new kid, don’t know better You got the gall edge You’ve been to college Here’s some new knowledge: you won’t get her I’ve got 5 good reasons you should not even try 5 good reasons holding onto your tie I’ve got 5 good reasons you should leave her alone 5 good reasons holding onto this phone I’ve got 5 good reasons you should get out of here 5 good reasons holding onto this beer I’ve got 5 good reasons you should not even try 5 good reasons holding onto your tie

BREAKING AND ENTERING (Dennis - Bergey) She's got a crime in mind She won't let on She's got a plan in hand When I am gone Breaking and entering My heart is on her string Chorus: She can't help it, it's her habit When I'm not there, she will grab it I'm elsewhere and absent-minded Leave my heart where she could find it She will take it, it's a steal She has found out where I feel She's got a scheme from dreams A second try There's a part on my heart Where she can pry Breaking and entering My heart is on her string (Chorus) She's got a crime in mind She won't let on She's got a plan in hand When I am gone Breaking and entering My heart is on her string (Chorus)

Ditto For Me 03:22
DITTO FOR ME (Bergey - Dennis) He talks about you In compromising terms Like you're so perfect Totally lacking in germs Someday you'll be mine So I'm playing it straight He knows that you are good But I know that you are great You were mine at first You'll be mine at last And all he will be Is something in your past Look at your new man And what do you see? The way he treats you Can't compare to me Chorus: Well, he loves you it's plain to see Yes, he loves you -- ditto for me He talks about you In compromising terms Like you're so perfect Totally lacking in germs Someday you'll be mine So I'm playing it straight He knows that you are good But I know that you are great He sings your praises To anyone who may care Much to my surprise You don’t have to be there Size up your new man We both take a stance By any measure He don’t stand a chance (Chorus) He talks about you In compromising terms Like you're so perfect Totally lacking in germs Someday you'll be mine So I'm playing it straight He knows that you are good But I know that you are great Now you're married I planned this all wrong You're his forever I waited too long Baby I blew it Don't know what to say Yeh, you're great but I didn't want it anyway (Chorus)
6.
WAIT . . . THEN HOLD ME (Bergey - Dennis) Already 8:24 when I pull into work I have a scary thought as I cross the lot You could be waiting at the "punch-in" for me It would be your job to dock me an hour But after five it's a different scene You and I get more than friendly But while we're at work we must never shirk The upstairs mob could cost us our jobs (And you say . . . ) Chorus: Wait . . . then hold me Girl . . . that's what you told me (You said . . . ) Wait . . . then hold me After work that's what you told me We've got to hide our love for another month Four more weeks of secrecy But I die when we're standing in the hot lunch line The heat's so strong it melts my fries I always go crazy when I'm on the dock And look up to see you with an upstairs type Checkin’ out the progress, mapping the charts The only graph I want to read's the story of your heart (Chorus) In a month you will end your stint as my boss It’s then you'll resign yourself to me In this day of uncertain economy I’m glad it's love you want not job security (Chorus) After work After work After work After work that’s what you told me You said “wait”
7.
COME BACK SHIRLEY (Bergey - Dennis) There's a pain that I get whenever I see fit There's a pain that I got whenever I am hot And it's a plain shame you're not game There's a pain that I know whenever you must go There's a pain in my heart whenever you depart And it's a plain shame you're not game Come back Shirley all is forgiven Come back Shirley Was it really all that bad Was I really such a cad Could we have made it if we only tried . . . ? Was it really all that bad Was I really such a cad Would things have worked out if I hadn't lied . . . ? There's a pain that I get whenever I see fit There's a pain that I got whenever I get hot And it's a plain shame you're not game There's a pain that I know whenever you must go There's a pain in my heart whenever you depart And it's a plain shame you're not game Come back Shirley all is forgiven Come back Shirley you could be living Come back Shirley all is forgiven Come back Shirley

CURB YOUR LOVE (Bergey-Dennis) Got love struck By a love truck No witnesses They didn't care Got love struck By a love truck No witnesses They wouldn't dare Chorus: Walking down the street I came to a sign It said "Curb Your Love Or You'll Get A Fine 'Cause Oo, What A Mess A Bad Love Can Make A Shovel And A Bag You Had Better Take" Got love pain From a love plane No witnesses They didn't see Got love pain From a love plane No witnesses Except for me (Chorus) Got love struck By a love truck No witnesses They didn't care Got love struck By a love truck No witnesses They wouldn't dare (Chorus)

My Hands 02:26
MY HANDS (Bergey) Chorus: As I sit and look at my hands I see what my hands have done There are no feelings in my hands I see that my hands have none They've spanked and thanked with the same hand They've knived and jived with the same man They've slapped and clapped with the same band It's these hands that hold me back Do we really have hands That are under control Do we really have hands Without a mind or soul . . . ? (Chorus) They've stabbed and jabbed at the same time They've tipped and sipped the table wine They've punched and lunched a simple mind It's these hands that hold me back Do we really have hands That are under control Do we really have hands Without a mind or soul . . . ?

THIS CRY’S ON ME (Bergey) I'll rent you a shoulder Buy a handkerchief I’ll hail a taxi If you need a lift I'll buy you some eye drops Let me lend a hand You don't have to thank me 'Cause I understand Chorus: This cry's on me This cry's on me The sky's the limit But let me dim it This cry's on me Everything costs And so does a good cry Everything's lost So I think you should try (Repeat) I’ll send for the flowers If you foot the bill I’ll give you your own space Should you become ill I’’ set out some ice cream We could watch a flick I hope you remember It’s my turn to pick (Chorus) Everything costs And so does a good cry Everything's lost So I think you should try (Repeat) I'll rent you a shoulder Buy a handkerchief I’ll hail a taxi If you need a lift I'll buy you some eye drops Let me lend a hand You don't have to thank me 'Cause I understand (Chorus)

SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE (Bergey - Dennis) Well, you know me I'm an adventurous kind I'll go anyplace, I'm discovery blind Went south to a place where I'd never been I thought it was great; I may go back again Southern Hemisphere down by the Amazon Southern Hemisphere that is where I belong Southern Hemisphere down by the Amazon Southern Hemisphere that is where I belong Well, I've got plans but they're not really mapped out How can I plan for towns I don't know about Well, once I get there I'll feel out the place Check out all the local customs just in case I met a girl in the Keys and I liked her a lot Suntan baby I want what you got Well, she told me she wasn't long for that place That she was heading south and at her own pace I'll never make it if I never try I'll never see it if I ever die I've taken a bite and I like the taste I'm taking my time 'cause haste will make waste Southern Hemisphere Southern Hemisphere Southern Hemisphere Southern Hemisphere Well, it's time for me to pack and get away I really don't know where I'm going to stay Well, I'll tell you this; I'll travel without fear 'Cause my girl lives in the Southern Hemisphere Southern Hemisphere down by the Amazon Southern Hemisphere that is where I belong Southern Hemisphere down by the Amazon Southern Hemisphere that is where I belong

about

Did anyone really think that covering my own Rank Amateur songs in the style of late electronic new wave and early alt-rock music was a good idea? Well, I thought it was and even if it wasn’t, it sure was fun reworking my own songs and then foisting them on a whole new generation!

Spot the influences if you can: Frazier Chorus, St. Etienne (both post New Wave), Icehouse, Flock Of Seagulls, Adam Ant, Pet Shop Boys, Joy Division, Psychedelic Furs, Depeche Mode, Clash, Buzzcocks, and Thomas Dolby. Whew! (Send a self-addressed stamped envelope and I’ll tell you which songs were influenced by what artist!) You’ll have to look up what a Lenticular is.

about

Andrew Bergey Denver, Colorado

After fronting the Oklahoma alt-rockers Rank Amateurs, Andrew Bergey moved to Colorado and started releasing solo albums in 2011. His clever, quirky, and surreal songs have forged “standard” rock albums, a bubblegum album, a children’s album, a premature anthology, and a cover album of his own songs! Why not? Andrew’s albums are always unexpected, experimental, and ear-wormingly entertaining! ... more
